Christmas gift guide for the special gamers in your life28th November 2019
I wasn’t going to create a gift guide, I have so many games to write about – I figured that’s what I should be concentrating on. Buuuuuuuuut, of course, I’ve been shopping around for presents, and I couldn’t help myself. So! My Christmas gift guide for the special gamers in your life (…or for yourself, I won’t tell anyone).
This guide uses affiliate links. Buying through affiliate links will give me a small percentage of the sale, at no extra cost to you.
Some products are from affiliate links, and some are not. Running a site is expensive, so I do need to monetise, but I’m determined not to push anything just because I could get some pennies. Keepin’ it wholesome. Admittedly, there are quite a few Amazon affiliate links, because they make it so easy to keep finding more and more stuff.
This list is quite the mish-mash, I didn’t have a specific theme in mind, just cool stuff that I have, I want to have, or I know others would want to have.
Mass Effect Christmas Baubles
I love these so much, super crafty creations by Shaya Fury, over on Etsy. I can recommend these, and all Shaya Fury creations (incredible artist!) with full confidence – I have bought art from her before, and they’re on my walls. Her watercolour R2-D2 keeps me company every day.
If you have someone in your life who loves Mass Effect – I can guarantee they’d love these. Trilogy Paragon and Renegade options, as well as Andromeda Initiative ones. A Paragade Christmas tree is gamer goals right there.
Head over to Shaya Fury on Etsy!

Five Nights at Freddy's Foxy Plush
I’m 31 and I still proudly buy plush toys, but I prefer non-standard ones. What’s more non-standard than an adorable plush of an animatronic from a horror game that tries to kill you? I would personally recommend the 16″ one…. you can see above, that the 16″ Foxy takes up most of my gaming chair… I went for a small fun time Freddy so I could have some FNAF on my desk too. Just how I roll.
LCD Writing Tablet
This may seem like a strange suggestion, but hear me out! When I play certain games, I always had a notebook handy to keep track of where I’ve been, which things I’ve completed, what items I need etc. etc. etc. But, it’s a bit… wasteful… and it’s the sort of thing you don’t go back to after you finish your run. Therefore, LCD tablet. I make my notes, whether it’s writing down what ingredients I need to collect in Skyrim, or various codes in puzzle games that I just can’t remember long enough, and then, clear.
The Amazon.co.uk link is to the tablet I have, but the same item wasn’t available in the US and Canadian stores, so I’ve looked for alternatives. The border of it is probably not the most sophisticated thing you’ve ever seen, but it really gets the job done.
Tomb Raider Coasters
These. Are. So. Cool. I love things that are smaller or larger than they’re meant to be – and I love these so much. I broke my Stargate coasters, and my current Dr Who coasters are a bit… worn, so I know what my replacement is.

Slime Rancher Plushies
I know I’ve already covered a plush but…. THESE ARE SO CUTE. I’ve been playing a lot of Slime Rancher lately, and I’ll probably write a whole post about it at some point. Wonderful de-stresser. I was watching Jacksepticeye play it while I was playing (two monitors yeeeaaaaaaaah!), and in one episode he showed off his slime plush, so, obviously, I immediately went searching for some for myself. I have the whole range sitting in my basket right now.
I’m featuring the adorable honey slime, because I haven’t figured out how to do multiple items without literally just filling the page with endless links, in triplicate – but they have a big range, so you’re not limited!
Funko Pop! Borderlands
Funkos aren’t for everyone, but I love them, and a lot of other people do too. I like having my favourite characters, but I also like having really cool ones. And the butt stallion is a really cool one. Pretty mesmerising, tbh. Of course, you’re not limited to the butt stallion in the Borderlands collection, or even to Borderlands Funko Pops, but I personally really like this one.
Ugly Christmas Sweaters!
It’s not Christmas without an ugly Christmas sweater. Numskull has a whole bunch, but I picked the Harry Potter one, because I have it, and it lights up. I even dug out an old Instagram pic of me in it, to prove that it does indeed light up.
IT LIGHTS UP. Seriously. It’s just so cool.

Smart LED Light Strips
I have these stuck to the backs of my desks, so I can light up my gaming area. These are smart ones, so you can control them through an app – I actually have all my lights going through that app, and it supports IFTT. They come in long rolls, and you just cut them down to size – I only needed to cut mine into two strips, but if you need to chop them up a bit more, you can buy more connectors without actually having to buy more LED strips.
Sorry Canadian friends, I couldn’t find the same thing in the Canadian store – only remote ones, but I’m sure you can order from over the border. With stuff like this I don’t want to guess at the closest alternative. I went back to the ones I ordered and copied into the US store – and they had it. I’m sure Amazon.ca has something similar, but I can’t offer any guarantees as to whether or not they work like they’re meant to.
These are a must for a cool gaming set up.
RGB Mechanical Keyboard
I love having backlit keyboards, and I know I’m not alone. I have an older iteration, and it just won’t break, so I can’t justify upgrading just yet. But if you fancy an upgrade… this one is pretty damn fancy. There’s also a matching lit up mousepad, which I really really really want.
The wrist rest is detachable, which is really great for those of us with very small desks.
Ending on a pretty big one, and definitely not in everyone’s price range – I was saving for years for one. I wasn’t sure about VR, but watching Jacksepticeye quivering in fear, because his brain was convinced he was genuinely really high up, despite knowing he was safe in his room… I decided to go for it. It’s one hell of an experience. Even if the game isn’t graphically incredible, the brain just quickly accepts it as a new reality.
Some people get motion sickness from VR, so keep that in mind! But it is an incredible experience.
If you have any suggestions for the list, let me know! I ended up with more Amazon links than I had originally intended – but they make it so easy, and also, chances are you can buy the items regardless of where you are in the world. Usually when I look at gift guides, I’ll find something I really want, only to find out shipping is limited to a country I’m not in.
So if you found some great items, especially from less obvious outlets, let me know!
